EWM Treatment
UPDATE: The treatment areas designated on the map will be treated on Thursday, May 28th at 2:00 pm. Please stay off the south end of the lake during treatment. It should take 2 hours.
ANNOUNCEMENT: EURASIAN WATER MILFOIL TREATMENT ON COMFORT LAKE
The Comfort Lakes Association Board has been granted a DNR permit to treat the lower 1/3 of Comfort Lake with Aquathol K to help control the growth and spread of Eurasian Water Milfoil (EWM). These lakefront areas will be treated between May 25 and May 31 depending on the weather. Please refer to the map for specific treatment areas.
Aquathol K is an herbicide that is highly effective on EWM while not harming lily pads and has very few restrictions in the treated area (do not drink the water for 7 days and do not water livestock for 7 days). It will take one to two weeks for the treatment to take full effect. Homeowners in the treatment area: please remove dead EWM from your lakefront area to prevent it from turning to muck.
We will post exact time of treatment on Facebook @Comfort Lake Association and on our website: https://www.comfortlakesassociation.org/. Notices will be posted in the treatment areas for 7 days.
If you have questions, please contact Jeanine Hansen at jeaninehansen78@gmail.com or 952-237-9797.
NOTE – We will be applying for a permit to treat the northern 2/3 of the lake with Platoon in June/July after the lily pads have emerged. Watch our Facebook page and website for more information!
