Membership
The Comfort Lakes Association (CLA) welcomes lakeshore owners, lakeshore access owners and other friends who use the Comfort Lakes area to become active members. Each of us has chosen this beautiful environment where we enjoy the outdoors and special lifestyle that living on or near a lake provides. With the benefits of this lifestyle comes responsibility.
Our interest in the water quality and lake preservation is greater than ever given the recent crisis brought about by the introduction of invasive species, particularly Eurasian Milfoil into the lakes and the threat of Zebra Mussels and Starry Stonewart on the horizon. There is power in numbers as we work towards a healthy lake. We need you to join or renew with the CLA!
Ongoing projects we have identified for which dues and any additional donations will be used:
- Collaborate with the DNR and the CLFLWSD regarding invasive species. Last year the CLFLWSD treated many areas of the lake and our goal for 2017 is to treat the maximum allowable lake area as established by the DNR. In addition, we need to be prepared for the potential arrival of other invasive species such as the Zebra Mussel and Starry Stonewart.
- Support more people to man the boat launch to inspect boats for invasive species as boats enter and exit the lake.
- Educate Comfort Lake residents through informative speaker series, written materials, and emails on various pressing topics which directly impact Comfort Lakes. Alert residents to relevant last minute information.
- Maintain awareness of water quality issues.
- Sponsor community events, including our annual 4th of July boat parade and picnic, a winter ice event and Bike to Breakfast; all of which encourage neighbors to meet and maintain relationships.
These are key goals help maintain the lakes' beauty and water quality so that our enjoyment is maximized. We need your help to make these things happen.
The CLA is a 501c 3 non-profit organization. Membership dues of $100 are tax deductible. Additional donations are always welcome. Annual membership runs from January 1 to December 31. Dues can be paid any time during the year.
